Systems we install

The right CCTV system for your property — designed around your site.

There is no single "best" CCTV system. The right solution depends on your property layout, the coverage you need, your storage requirements, and whether you need remote access. We assess every site individually before recommending anything.

IP Camera Systems

Digital cameras connected over your data network. Sharper image quality than analogue HD, with resolution up to 4K. Supports motion-triggered recording, remote live viewing, and AI analytics. Best suited to commercial installations where image detail matters — offices, retail, warehouses.

Dome Cameras

Ceiling-mounted cameras with a discreet, vandal-resistant housing. Ideal for internal coverage of entrance areas, corridors, and communal spaces. Dome cameras offer a wide field of view and are harder to tamper with or reposition than fixed box cameras.

Bullet Cameras

Long-range cameras designed for external use — car parks, building perimeters, loading areas. The cylindrical housing is weatherproof and clearly visible, which makes bullet cameras an effective deterrent as well as a recording tool. Available with IR night vision up to 50 metres.

PTZ Systems

Pan-Tilt-Zoom cameras can be remotely controlled to follow movement across a wide area. A single PTZ camera can cover the equivalent of multiple fixed cameras — making them cost-effective for monitoring large sites such as car parks, industrial yards, or multi-entrance commercial buildings in London.

Thermal Imaging

Thermal cameras detect heat signatures rather than visible light, making them effective in total darkness or environments where conventional cameras struggle — perimeters, plant rooms, or sites with variable lighting. Useful for high-security commercial properties and critical infrastructure in London.

Cloud & Remote Access

Modern IP systems allow you to view live footage and access recordings from anywhere via a secure mobile app — whether you are on-site, at another London location, or abroad. Cloud storage can supplement or replace local DVR recording, offering offsite backup and easier footage retrieval.

Technology partner

We're an IDIS partner installer — not a generic CCTV contractor.

Most CCTV contractors install whatever's cheapest or most familiar. Triple Star is an accredited IDIS partner installer, which means our engineers are trained specifically in the IDIS Direct IP range — purpose-built commercial surveillance cameras with 4K resolution, deep learning analytics, and a Video Management System (VMS) that requires no additional licensing fees.

For commercial properties in London and the South East, IDIS systems offer a genuinely different level of reliability and image quality compared to generic branded hardware. If you want a system that still works clearly on a cloudy evening in a London car park, that distinction matters.

How it works

From first call to working system — four steps.

We manage the full process. You don't need to know what cameras you need or how many — that's what the site survey is for.

Step 01

Free Site Survey

An SSAIB certified engineer visits your property — at no cost. We assess coverage requirements, identify blind spots, check cable routing options, and advise on the camera types that suit your site and budget. You receive a written specification and itemised quote.

Step 02

System Design

We produce a camera layout plan and full system specification — camera placement, field-of-view coverage, DVR or NVR configuration, storage capacity, and remote access setup. You know exactly what you are getting before we arrive to install.

Step 03

Professional Installation

Our engineers carry out the full installation — cameras, cabling, DVR/NVR, and network configuration. All cabling is labelled, tidied, and documented to SSAIB standards. On completion, we walk you through the system and configure remote access on your device.

Step 04

Ongoing Maintenance

CCTV systems need annual maintenance to stay reliable — cameras shift, lenses collect grime, hard drives degrade. Triple Star offers maintenance plans covering annual engineer visits, camera recalibration, DVR health checks, and priority call-out. One accountable contractor for the life of the system.

Recent installations

CCTV systems we've installed — in London and beyond.

Two examples from our recent commercial CCTV work. Both involved existing systems that needed replacing or upgrading, with minimal disruption to the building's occupants.

London

IP CCTV System Upgrade — Student Accommodation, London

A leading student accommodation provider needed to modernise the security infrastructure across a London property. The existing analogue system had degraded beyond reliable use. Triple Star, in partnership with IDIS, designed and installed a full IP CCTV upgrade — replacing all cameras with high-definition units, integrating remote management, and delivering a system the facilities team could operate without specialist support.

Why Triple Star

SSAIB certified. IDIS accredited. Trading since 2006.

There is no shortage of CCTV installers in London. The distinction that matters is accreditation — specifically SSAIB, which is the national approval scheme for security systems installers. SSAIB membership requires annual audit against NSI standards, which means every installation Triple Star carries out is to a verified, documented standard rather than whatever the installer decides is good enough on the day.

We also carry BAFE accreditation, ISO 9001 registration, and ECA membership — and as an IDIS partner installer, our engineers are factory-trained on the specific systems we recommend and install. We do not subcontract CCTV work.

For commercial clients in London and the South East, this matters for insurance, due diligence, and the long-term reliability of the system you are paying for.

We also integrate intruder alarms and access control systems — so if you want a complete security solution rather than a standalone CCTV install, we can design and deliver it as a single project.

Certification

SSAIB Approved

Annually audited against NSI standards for security system design and installation. Required by many insurers for commercial CCTV.

Accreditation

BAFE Accredited

Third-party accreditation covering our fire and security systems work. Independently verified competency.

ISO 9001 Registered

QMS ISO 9001 certified quality management across all our projects — from survey through to completed installation.

Common questions

CCTV installation London — your questions answered.

Answers to the questions we hear most often from commercial and residential clients across London and the South East.

  • How much does CCTV installation cost in London?

CCTV installation cost in London varies based on the number of cameras, camera type, cable routing requirements, and whether you need a wired or wireless system. A basic 4-camera residential system typically starts from around £500–£800 installed. A commercial system covering a small business premises — say 8–12 cameras with a full HD NVR, remote access, and maintenance plan — will typically range from £1,500 to £3,500 depending on the specification.

We always carry out a free site survey before quoting. This is the only reliable way to give you an accurate figure — square footage and number of cameras alone do not determine cost, because cable routing, access, and the specific cameras required for your coverage goals all affect the price. All quotes are itemised, with full product specification included.

  • Is it legal to install CCTV on my property in London?

Yes, CCTV installation is legal on your property in London, provided it complies with the UK GDPR and the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) guidance on surveillance cameras. For residential properties, cameras must not record your neighbours' gardens, driveways, or the public street without good reason — if they do, that footage falls within GDPR scope.

For businesses, you must display clear CCTV signage informing people they are being recorded, have a documented reason for operating CCTV, and handle footage securely with defined retention periods. Our engineers advise on camera placement to ensure maximum coverage while remaining ICO compliant. You can read more about UK business CCTV obligations in our UK Business CCTV Laws guide.

  • How many CCTV cameras do I need?

The number of cameras depends on your property's layout, the number of access points, and what you want to cover. A small retail unit in London typically needs 4–6 cameras covering the entrance, shopfloor, stock area, and external frontage. A commercial office building or warehouse will need a proper site survey to determine coverage — an engineer will walk the site and map blind spots before making a recommendation.

In our experience, most commercial clients in London initially underestimate the number of cameras they need — particularly for external perimeter coverage where one camera rarely has the field of view to cover an entire face of a building. The site survey exists precisely to address this before installation, not after.

  • Can I view my CCTV cameras remotely from my phone?

Yes. All IP and modern HD CCTV systems installed by Triple Star include remote access as standard. You can view live camera feeds and access recorded footage from a secure mobile app on iOS or Android, or via a desktop portal — from anywhere in the world with an internet connection.

For IDIS systems, this is managed through the IDIS Mobile app, which also supports motion alert notifications — so if a camera detects movement outside business hours, you receive a notification and can pull up the footage immediately. Remote access is configured as part of our standard installation process.

  • What is the difference between IP and HD analogue CCTV?

HD analogue cameras use coaxial cable and are available in resolutions up to 8 megapixels. They are compatible with existing coaxial infrastructure if you are upgrading an older system, and tend to be lower cost than IP equivalents. For many small commercial premises, an HD analogue system with a DVR is a practical and cost-effective solution.

IP cameras connect over a data network using Cat5e or Cat6 cable and offer higher image quality, more advanced analytics, and greater flexibility for expanding the system. They record to a Network Video Recorder (NVR) and are the better choice for larger commercial sites, sites requiring AI-based analytics, or where you want to integrate CCTV with access control or intruder alarms. For new installations in London commercial properties, we typically recommend IP systems unless budget or existing infrastructure makes analogue HD a better fit.

  • Do you provide CCTV maintenance after installation?

Yes. Triple Star offers annual CCTV maintenance plans covering engineer site visits, camera recalibration and cleaning, DVR/NVR health checks, hard drive diagnostics, remote access verification, and priority call-out in the event of a system fault. Maintenance is the part of CCTV ownership most often overlooked — cameras shift position, lenses collect grime, and hard drives degrade, all of which compromise the quality of your footage precisely when you most need it.

We maintain the systems we install across London and the South East. If you have an existing system from another installer and are looking for an SSAIB certified maintenance contractor, contact us — we can take on third-party system maintenance subject to an initial site assessment.
